The 15^th Annual Capital Alumni Network (CAN) Softball Tournament will be held on August 6-7&13, 2011.  This signature even attracts more than 1700 alumni participants and their guests to the grounds of the NASA Goddard Softball Complex, in Greenbelt, MD.

When the first softball champion, Texas, was crowned in 1997, the can co-ed league consisted of 12 teams. Now in it’s 15^th year, CAN’s softball season will culminate with  69 teams taking  the fields during the first weekend of August, making the CAN tournament, the largest alumni softball tournament in the world.

In keeping with tradition, attendees have been asked to bring school supply items to the tournament, benefiting DC public schools.  In 2010, CAN was able to collect more than 15 boxes of school supplies and in 2011 we hope to do much more.

CAN is currently soliciting sponsor for the 2011 Softball Tournament. Revenue received from the sponsorships is set aside for the Capital Alumni Network Scholarship Fund. The Fund distributes an annual award to CAN member chapters that excel in community service, scholastics, social development and sports. Funds then go to the college or university’s scholarship fund; allowing area students to attend CAN member schools.
