2017 CAN GENERAL ELECTION INFORMATION

Scholarship: Each year, CAN awards the Mark R. Tallarico Scholarship award to at least one local alumni club who has demonstrated commitment to alumni club growth and development through outstanding performance in scholarship, service, social development and sports. This award is funded through a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year. The award must be used by the chapter to further education and is typically used to assist a local student in attending the recipient college or university.

Service: CAN is committed to giving back to the community. Each year, we hold a variety of events aimed at helping chapter fulfill their philanthropic initiatives. We participate annually Wreaths Across America.  Each summer, we hold a school supply drive in conjunction with our annual softball tournament. In addition to directly participating in community service events, CAN aims to serve as a conduit through which individual alumni chapters may access information about philanthropy opportunities for their members.

Social: CAN provides a variety of social and networking events for chapters throughout the year. All of our sports leagues have a social component to them, including pre-and post season parties. Outside of sports, CAN’s social team is constantly looking for new and exciting ways to help alumni clubs explore the city. We are often able to organize CAN nights at professional sporting events  and discounted tickets to local cultural events.

Sports: CAN is proud to be the organizer of some of the largest sporting leagues in the DC area. We offer co-ed softball (April-August), co-ed soccer (April-July), co-ed flag football (September-December), co-ed basketball (January-March) and co-ed volleyball (January-March). In addition to these team sports, CAN also sponsors an annual Golf Tournament (May) and participates in a local running league. CAN’s marquee sporting event is our annual softball tournament held each August. More than 70 alumni clubs and approximately 2,000 players and guests gather for three days of food, fun, and softball.
